“The goal of Little League has always been to use the sports of baseball and softball to teach the values of teamwork, sportsmanship and fair play,” Stephen D. Keener, president and chief executive officer of Little League Baseball and Softball, said. “Thanks to the Little League Urban Initiative, children and families in urban areas are experiencing the joys of good clean Little League competition in greater numbers every year. Little League is pleased that the Torii Hunter Project, Torii Hunter, and his generous friends in Major League Baseball have stepped up to the plate, to ensure that the Little League Urban Initiative continues to grow.”

The Little League Urban Initiative – Little League’s endeavor to bring the benefits of the program to families in urban areas – has provided young people a chance to play baseball where there was once little opportunity. Since the program began in 2000, more than 200 Little League Urban Initiative programs have thrived in 70-plus cities around the U.S.

But there is more work to be done. Children and families in urban areas desperately need the stability, socialization and friendly competition that come with a community project like Little League. That is why Little League International is so pleased to be working with the Torii Hunter Project to ensure the future success of the Urban Initiative.

Your donation to the Little League Urban Initiative can help Torii and his friends keep this important endeavor moving forward. Your tax-deductible gift in any amount can be sent to:
